Clamming!

This last weekend we went to Ocean Shores to go razor clam digging! This is something that the Nakagawara side of the family likes to do, but was a first for John and me. We left Saturday morning in the truck with my parents...
Cheese!

Nice shades!

We stopped for lunch at the Rusty Tractor in Elma and they have a whole wall devoted to Jello molds.

Waiting in the truck while we check in

Oh hi!

The weather driving down was terrible, very rainy and windy. When we go to Ocean Shores it was still very rainy and windy. By the time we got down to the beach to start our dig around 4:00 it had cleared up! It was still chilly, especially for Owen, but not nearly as bad as we had anticipated! We even saw some sun!
Not so sure about this...

John and Tanner started off

Success!

Nice work!

Very excited about my 1st clam

Yay!

There were literally thousands of people up and down the beach digging. Who knew it was such a popular thing to do?

Can almost see blue sky up there

Owen was not that impressed

World's smallest razor clam I dug up.

Everyone who dug! We all got our limit of 15 clams in about an hour and a half.

Cleaning them... not as much fun as digging them!

After clamming we took Owen for his first swim! We think he liked it!

Relaxing in the hot tub area with Dad

Hey! This is fun!

Tanner and Callista enjoying drinks before dinner

Chowing down! We had fried clams of course, as well as yummy mac and cheese, sweet and sour spare ribs, beef, and Vietnamese salad. So good!
Then we celebrated my Dad, Tanner and Uncle Steve's birthdays

The next morning Owen snuggled with his Uncle Tanner

We walked over for the continental breakfast
Picking up cheerios

We stopped in Tacoma at my grandma's house and we cleaned some more clams. John was showing Owen one and he wanted to eat it alive! Ick!

All in all, we had a great time! The weather turned out fabulous and we had a really fun time with the Nakagawara's! Can't wait until we can go again!
