Depoe Bay

The last week of July I took Owen to Depoe Bay in Oregon with my parents and Tanner. John was taking a Summer school class and couldn't miss a week, so we decided to go without him. We had a lot of fun, but it was also a lot of work! And we missed John a lot!!

First stop on the way down was Tillamook. We visited the farmers market and bought a bunch of delicious fresh fruit.
Stretching his legs after a long car ride
We went to the Cheese Factory and had fun watching the cheese go down the conveyor belt, sampling cheese bits and eating lots of ice cream!
Farmer Owen
The Farmer and the Cow
The condo was right on the cliffs looking over the water. It was always windy and only really sunny the day we got there. The rest of the time was cloudy and foggy.
Hi!
You have to hold his ankles because he drops backwards sometimes!
The condo had a playground that Owen loved.
Reading with Grandma
Having a snack
Making faces at each other
Spent a lot of hours in the backseat of the truck.
Lobster head!
Checking out the view with G-pa
Sweet face
At Mo's, our favorite restaurant on the Oregon coast
Went to the aquarium in Newport. Trying to touch things in the little pools.
Cool tunnels through the water
Tanner being weird
In the jaws of a shark!
In the toddler wading area. It was pretty chilly outside so we didn't last long there.
Blowing bubbles at the indoor pool
A cool wall in Florence
Owen's new friend
Taking a dip in the Pacific
It was beautiful here, but chilly
He would have ran straight into the water if we had let him!
Found a little stream to play in
Pick up a rock
Taste the rock
Throw the rock
On a hikeAt a lookout
We went out to eat a lot of meals and it got difficult to entertain Owen for a long time while we waited for our food.
Bread and folding hats!
Not into it anymore.
Smile for the camera!
Wrestling Tanner
At the Whale Center
Tanner, my mom and I went on a whale watching trip in a zodiac boat. It was hard not to get seasick, but we had a fun time!
Saw 1 whale and followed it up the coast for a few miles.
Whale baleen!
Fancy new sunglasses!
Sea lions in Newport
Owen was fascinated by the sea lion barking
Trying to lick the ice cream cone
LOVED the pesto at the Waterfront Depot, our new favorite restaurant in Florence
And FINALLY asleep after no naps!
Owen learned to climb out of his high chair and it was impossible to get him to sit still in it.
Went to cool tide poolsThere was a ton of mussels and lots of seaweed
Owen loved sliding down the rock hill
Cute faces after bath time.

We had a great time... but it was more of a "trip" than a "vacation!" It was hard to get Owen to sleep in the car and on a normal nap schedule. Also, he didn't want to eat a lot of things we were eating and had a lot of grilled cheese sandwiches. Owen had a great time playing with Tanner and his grandparents even though he missed his Daddy! We can't wait to go back!
